Weekend Update

Hey, that sounds really newsworthy, doesn’t it?  Just thought I’d update everyone on the progress of the EF Tour group.  I now have 8 applications in hand and 2 verbal confirmations, so obviously, 10 altogether.  I still need 2 more confirmed to send in the apps and get us going towards Europe next summer and I am very hopeful that it will happen.  I’ve got at least 4 people who are waiting to see who else may sign up before they sign on the dotted line.

The global economy is obviously the biggest single hold-up for folks who would like to go on the trip.  I certainly understand that!  It has kept several parents from accompanying their young’uns (I’m sure the kids are happy about that!) and just held the numbers down in general.  Hopefully the economy will turn around some next year and we’ll find our dollar worth a little more against the euro.  Fingers crossed for all of the above.

Changing the subject briskly, Andy and Andi, his cutie girlfriend, arrived this morning, (finally) from Virginia!  Yeah!  We haven’t seen him here in town since March and I’m afraid folk may have forgotten what he looks like! 😉   We leave in the morning for a true Kentucky tradition~Church on the Graveyard!  Explained, this is a reunion of Roger’s mother’s people (said in the venacular) up in a holler in Eastern Kentucky.  Sizerock in Leslie County, to be exact. Church first inbetween the two family cemeteries and then we eat!  Absolutely wonderful scenery, terrific homecooked food and great family stories and traditions. 

It was there, several years ago, that the immortal words of Roger’s late Uncle Mertie Gibson rang out from the mountain top….  “I am the head of the house and my wife she is the neck! And whichever way the neck shall turn…..so shall the head!”

Ah yes, words to live by.
